My Story

I quit my job at Charles Schwab and founded Family Styles Advisors to do one thing: to serve clients being my true self, focusing less time on unimportant things, and more on helping others achieve financial independence.

My goal is to help you maximize both your time and energy on things that you truly love. Learning from my personal experiences, money is an important tool, but it shouldn’t dictate your life. Only by building a healthy relationship with money can you take steps towards a life you want to live.

I was born in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California as a second generation Asian American. Contrary to the norm, I loved going to Chinese after-school. When I was 9 years old, our family moved to Taiwan. It was a huge cluster of confusion figuring out my identity: “why did I feel like a minority when I was so close to my roots?” After graduating from the University of Hong Kong, I worked in investment banking for the all the wrong reasons of prestige and money. Of course, that didn’t end well. I was overworked and unhappy. I was making good money but neglected managing my own personal finances. I tried investing in stocks, but I was too scared, busy, and tired. Then, COVID hit, and it forced me to reevaluate what was important in life. I quit my banking job, read a ton of books on personal finance, and started my journey of being a financial planner. I’m happy that I found my calling. I love what I do, not because of the numbers, but because I get to ride shotgun on the wonderful journeys of my clients’ lives.
